The interdisciplinary team behind MelAutim
To accomplish our endeavour, we created a multidisciplincary team composed of clinicians, molecular biologists, physicists and computer scientists. Read here about the principal investigators (PIs) of this consortium.
Ria Baumgrass is Professor for Immunology and leads the Group of Signal Transduction at the German Rheumatism Research Centre (DRFZ, Berlin). Her group focusses on T cell biology, in particular on the characterization of T cell subpopulations the, identification of their molecular activation switches. More about Ria's group here.
Lucie Heinzerling is Professor of Dermato-oncology and consultant at the Ludwig Maximilam Univierty (LMU Munich). She leads the unit for dermatooncology and has clinical research group on biomarker detection. She has more than 20 years of experience in clinical trials, including Phase I-III industry trials and melanoma network trials In Germany and Europe. She co-coordinates MelAutim. More about Lucie's group here.
Gerhard Krönke is Professor of Translational Immunology at the FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg and works as clinical rheumatologist at the Universitätsklinikum Erlangen. His expertise is in macrophage and myeloid cell-driven mechanisms of tolerance, autoimmunity and inflammation, woith a focus on autoimmue diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. More about Gerhard's group here.
Brigitte Pützer is Professor in Vectorology and Experimental Gene Therapy at the University of Rostock. Her team has put special emphasis on the elucidation of molecular mechanisms mediating the effects of the transcription factors E2F1 and p73 on cell fate, intracellular signaling, tumor progression, and anticancer therapy resistance. More about Brigitte's group institute.
Julio Vera-González is physicist and Professor of Systems Tumor Immunology at the FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg. His expertise is in reconstruction, computational modeling and simulation of molecular and cellular networks. To this end his team combines bioinformatics analysis, hybrid multi-level modelling and multi-criteria decision. More about Julio's group here.
Olaf Wolkenhauer is computer scientist and professor of Systems Biology and Bioinformatics at the University of Rostock. His department contributes expertise in bioinformatics, data management, and implementation of standards for date exchange in numerous German and EU projects on Medical Systems Biology. More about Olaf's institute here.
The junior PIs
In MelAutim we are committed to use the project as an opportunity to train, support and promote our junior researchers. Read about our Junior co-PIs.
Shailendra Gupta works as senior postdoc at the SBI Rostock with O Wolkenhauer. His expertise is in network reconstruction and analysi, molecular docking and simulation and drug repurposing.
Xin Lai is postdoc at the Vera's Lab. He has expertise in network analysis and simulation, ncRNAs bioinformatics and in machine-learning models applied to biomedicine.
